A Customer Communications & Water Conservation System

AquaHawk Alerting™ is a Web-based software service that enables water providers to improve communications with their customers and share valuable information via the Internet. By providing customers access to billing and consumption data at anytime, and proactively notifying them when leaks or over-irrigation occur, your organization will help customers conserve water and save money.

If your organization has already invested in an AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) or mobile AMR (Automatic Meter Reading) system, wouldn't it be valuable to engage customers directly using the data this equipment provides? AquaHawk encourages customer self-service, boosts client satisfaction, and delivers water-saving results that are unmatched by other conservation programs.

Your Customers Will Thank You

Using a standard Web browser and any Internet-connected device, customers can login to the AquaHawk Alerting portal anytime during the billing cycle, view an estimated bill-to-date, or see how their consumption compares to similar users.

If you've ever received a call from an angry customer about a high bill, you understand the benefit of threshold billing. Customers can prevent high water bills by setting an amount of money ($) or water (gallons) they don't want to surpass each month. The system monitors their consumption and sends an alert if they are trending to exceed their budget. Customers can specify how they want to be contacted--e-mail, phone, or text.

Leak Detection and Notification

AquaHawk analyzes water consumption data to detect leaks, over-irrigation, and potential meter issues. Proactively communicating actionable information to customers enables them to modify their watering cycles and prevent costly water damage that can result when small leaks run undetected for hours or days. AquaHawk also keeps customers informed when they're away from their homes.

AquaHawk Alerting Benefits

AquaHawk Alerting is affordable, easy-to-use, and delivers measurable value to water providers.

  • Increases Customer Satisfaction - Similar to the online capabilities provided by most electric utilities, your customers want access to their water consumption and billing information via the Web, smartphone, or other Internet-enabled device. The AquaHawk Web portal presents information in an easy-to-understand format and guides customers on how they can use water more efficiently.
  • The Most Effective Water Conservation System Available - Different from commonly selected conservation programs that only affect a small portion of the accounts who participate, AquaHawk Alerting analyzes each customer's water consumption and proactively delivers information the client can use to eliminate wasted water.
  • Maximizes Avoided Costs - Effective conservation keeps water utilities comfortably within their production limits, delaying or eliminating the need for additional water purchases and infrastructure expansion.
  • Earn a Public Relations Win - There is tremendous public relations value for providers when they shift the standard utility-customer relationship from "they just send me a bill every month" to "my provider cares and is trying to help me manage my water expense." AquaHawk is an affordable, direct way to make a noticeable difference for customers that they will appreciate.
  • Simplifies Conservation Management - AquaHawk simplifies the leak detection and notification process so that line staff, not just your water operations team, can manage it. Alerts are clearly explained and there's a supportive task management process to ensure that your follow-up is thorough.

  • Extends the Value of your AMI and AMR Investments - AquaHawk analyzes consumption data from your fixed-base AMI system and displays the alert notifications that flag conservation violations, usage on inactive accounts, theft, and tampering. By increasing the meter reading frequency--biweekly or weekly--utilities using mobile AMR systems can also notify their customers of leaks, irrigation, and other costly problems.
  • No Hardware or Software Investment Required - AquaHawk is delivered using the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) or subscription model. Your utility will realize immediate value because there's no hardware or software to purchase, and the application is operated using a standard Web browser and an Internet connection.
  • Cloud-based Computing - AquaHawk is hosted in the "cloud" making it readily scalable for providers of all sizes. You'll always run the most up-to-date version of the application and your data is safe, secure, and continually backed up.
  • Easy to Implement - Implementing the service has no impact on your billing operations and requires minimal time and effort from water provider staff. AquaHawk Alerting is a powerful tool that your team will use every day to perform their duties.
  • Comprehensive Training & Support - AquaHawk incorporates a clear, understandable user interface that makes it easy to learn and operate. In addition, AmCoBi also offers comprehensive training and support so that your staff can get up to speed quickly and get assistance when they need it.

AquaHawk Alerting in Action

A progressive water district in Colorado deployed AquaHawk Alerting at the beginning of the winter season. Their customers visit a website where they subscribe to the free service and specify how they want to be contacted when problems are detected.

The district uses a mobile AMR system and collects reads from its nearly 2,000 connection points, two times per week. The data is analyzed by AquaHawk and a list of "hot" properties is e-mailed to the district's staff members, and presented online in a secure Web portal.

As a result of problems flagged by AquaHawk, the district's water operations team called and visited numerous properties to notify customers of potential issues, and to offer assistance. The team discovered leaks caused by pipe breaks, frozen backflow preventers, and broken toilets. These leaks would have run for days or weeks because prior to using AquaHawk, the district only reviewed consumption data during the normal monthly billing cycle.

The district estimates it has prevented the loss of more than 2.5 million gallons of water valued at more than $180,000.

Large Utilities are Investing in this Approach

Major metropolitan water utilities are deploying services similar to AquaHawk Alerting. As an example, New York City's Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) invested $252 million to retrofit 835,000 water meters for wireless leak detection and notification. During the program's test period, more than 1,300 notifications were sent, helping New Yorkers save hundreds of thousands of dollars.

AquaHawk Alerting is unique in that it serves the needs of large municipalities and yet is affordable enough to be used by smaller water providers. It offers a host of capabilities other systems don't and AmCoBi also includes comprehensive training and support for clients.

AquaHawk Alerting is the Answer

Give your water customers access to the information they want and need. As they experience firsthand the valuable benefits of AquaHawk Alerting, they'll wonder how they've managed without it.
